EPR and OSL emergency dosimetry with teeth: A direct comparison of two techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
The OSL dosimetry technique with teeth has been validated against the EPR dosimetry technique through a measurement comparison performed on the same teeth. The OSL reconstructed doses were found to be in agreement with corresponding EPR doses. Minimum measurable doses for the OSL technique were estimated to be in the range 0.9e1.5 Gy for measurements made within 24 h post-exposure if OSL signals are collected from 6 teeth at the same time. These values satisfy the requirements for emergency triage dosimetry. The fading of tooth OSL signals correlated with fading of radiation-induced EPR signals observed at g 1⁄4 2.0115 that are attributed to CO3 radicals. OSL sensitivity can be enhanced if more teeth from the same individual will be used for the signal accumulation. 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Emergency EPR and OSL dosimetry with table vitamins and minerals.
Several table vitamins, minerals and L-lysine amino acid have been preliminarily tested as potential emergency dosemeters using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) techniques. Radiation-induced EPR signals were detected in samples of vitamin B2 and L-lysine while samples of multivitamins of different brands as well as mineral Mg demonstrated promine...

PURPOSE In the EC-funded project RENEB (Realizing the European Network in Biodosimetry), physical methods applied to fortuitous dosimetric materials are used to complement biological dosimetry, to increase dose assessment capacity for large-scale radiation/nuclear accidents. This paper describes the work performed to implement Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) and Electron Paramagnetic Re...

Introduction Ionizing radiation generates extremly long lived CO2 radicals in calcified tissue. The CO2 concentration rises linearly with dose and can be detected directly by means of EPR spectroscopy (electron paramagnetic resonanc). For retrospective dose estimation tooth enamel and dentine as well as bone samples may be used as in-vivo-dosimeter. Enamel analysis of permanent teeth has been e...
متن کاملApplication of spectroscopic techniques in the radiation dosimetry of glasses: An update
The colorimetry and thermoluminescence properties of gamma irradiated glass were reported in as early as 1920. The utility of radio-photoluminescence (RPL) of silver activated metaphosphate glass for monitoring high doses of accidental and routine gamma radiation was reported in the 1960s. Since then considerable amount of research work has been carried out to study the thermoluminescence (TL),...

The paper is devoted to review of development and application of EPR dosimetry with teeth in Ukraine. It deals with specific features of the EPR dosimetry protocol, which was developed and is practically used in SCRM for retrospective dosimetry of clean-up workers (liquidators). Extensive methodological research was conducted in SCRM in order to develop an original version of EPR dosimetric pro...
